Ice is here and our fleet is at 2/3rds strength. Last saturday we brought the #5 and #05 out to GunLake to make some practice laps. The #05 is still as fast as ever ticking off 85mph on the little track. We chased our tails for a while with the #5 sled just to find out we were using a bent carbide runner that wasn't biting into the ice. Todd Krikke was out making laps as well so we got some more pointers from him on setup and riding style which is always a bonus. And we have witnesses to the fact that todd was indeed passed. :) We will be back out there this weekend getting into race shape.
The Soo sled is still perched on the stand in the speedshop. Since last time we have... studded the track, installed the drivers, fabricated our floating rear tunnel enclosure, welded our top a-arms, heat-treated and coated our custom steering spindles, machined our spindle bearing carriers, bent the chromemoly for the bottom a-arms, bent the chromemoly for the kickpan, installed our seat support/taillight mount, and brought the motor to the dyno.
We had some shock shims that were back ordered and a small delay on the dyno when it lost fuel pressure. the motor is ripping again and the shims are on order from a different company now so hopefully things keep falling into place.
